The Senior Secondary School Electricity curriculum served as the foundation for this exam syllabus.
It is intended to assess applicants’ comprehension of electrical and electronic concepts, safe working practices, and the upkeep and repair of household and commercial equipment.
The curriculum is not replaced by the exam syllabus.
The syllabus’s goal is to evaluate candidates’:
- knowledge and understanding of the basic concepts and principles of Basic Electricity/Applied Electricity;
- ability to use tools and equipment in the maintenance and repair of electrical/electronic devices;
- understanding of the principle of operation and the application of simple electrical/electronic devices;
- understanding of safe working procedures and safety precautions in a domestic and industrial installations.
Papers 1, 2, and 3 are the three required papers that must all be taken. The first and second papers will be composite exams that must be taken all at once.
PAPER 1: will have 50 multiple-choice objective questions that must be answered correctly in one hour to receive 50 points.
Paper 2: will have the following three sections: Following are Sections A, B, and C:
A must-complete section for all candidates is Section A. It will have four questions, and candidates must choose three of them to respond to.
Only candidates from Ghana will be eligible for Section B. There will be three questions on it, and candidates must respond to two of them.
Only applicants from Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and The Gambia will be eligible for Section C. Additionally, it will have three questions, of which candidates must select two to respond to.
Candidates must therefore respond to a total of five questions. There will be 50 marks on the hour-long paper.
Paper 3: will be a practical exam consisting of two experiments that candidates must complete in three hours each for 100 points.
