WAEC GSM Phones Maintenance and Repairs Syllabus
The purpose of this syllabus is to evaluate candidates’ knowledge and proficiency in problem finding and methodical repairs of mobile devices.
Additionally, it tests applicants’ understanding of how to launch and run a mobile phone maintenance and repair business.
Aims and Objectives
The aims and objectives of the syllabus are to test candidates’ knowledge and understanding of:
- Basic concept and terminologies
- Tracing, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance and repairs of mobile phones
- Analyzing mobile phone PCB circuits
- Different fault finding techniques
- Using internet resources, data manuals, service manuals and troubleshooting manuals
- General safety precautions in mobile phones repair and maintenance
- The requirement for setting up and successfully running a mobile phone maintenance and repair business
Scheme of Examination
Paper 1 and Paper 2 are the two papers that will be given. The exams will be a single sitting of a composite exam.
40 multiple-choice objective questions on PAPER 1 must be answered in 45 minutes. There will be 40 marks in the exam.
Paper 2 will include two portions, A and B, each lasting one and a half hours and carrying a score of 100.
Twelve essay questions will be in Section A. For a total of 60 marks, candidates must respond to any ten of them in 55 minutes.
Candidates will have 50 minutes to complete the two questions in Section B for a total of 40 points.
