Police in Florida are already arresting preschoolers for having bathroom accidents.

The city of Daytona Beach Shores may have disciplined Schoenbrod and another high-ranking officer, Det. Sgt. Jessica Long, for bringing their child to jail on October 5. The Public Safety Director, Michael Fowler, sent a note to all employees advising them of a professional standards inquiry, and the News-Journal has obtained copies of those memos.
Schoenbrod and Long are a married couple with a child. A high-ranking officer told a caseworker that in October, a 312-year-old child who was having trouble potty training was hauled to the Daytona Beach Shores Public Safety Department on consecutive days and thrown in prison.
The second time was on October 6, 2022, when the child was again restrained in this manner.
I heard him sobbing. Lt. Michael Schoenbrod can be heard saying to a Department of Children and Families caseworker, “I was getting the response I expected from him,” in body cam footage from a Volusia County Sheriff’s Office officer.

Problems in a child of three and a half years old are, to a greater or lesser extent, medical in nature, or the result of poor parenting. The three and a half year old has nothing to do with this.
There is no doubt in my mind that this is not a law enforcement issue.
It hurts my head to know that twice in the town of Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, two Public Safety officers (Police) were allowed to bring their three-and-a-half-year-old child to jail. The second time, the boy was cuffed!
