WAEC Auto Electrical Work
The Senior Secondary School Trade Curriculum served as the foundation for this test course. The curriculum is not replaced by the exam syllabus.
The curriculum has been set up to cover the following six topics: lighting, auxiliary systems, battery, starting, and ignition.
Objective
Examining applicants’ knowledge, abilities, and attitudes in the area of auto electrical works is the goal of the syllabus. In particular, candidates must:
- understand the concepts in auto electrical works;
- use tools and equipment to carry out maintenance and repair on motor vehicles;
- understand the safety practices and observe them in the work environment.
Examination Scheme
Papers 1, 2, and 3 are the three papers that must all be taken. A composite paper consisting of Papers 1 and 2 must be taken in one session.
Paper 1 will include 40 multiple-choice objective questions that must all be completed correctly in order to receive 40 points.
There will be six brief, structured questions on PAPER 2. Candidates will have one hour to respond to any four questions for 60 points.
Paper 3: This practical test will last two hours. Three skill-based questions will be included, and applicants must correctly answer two of them to receive 90 points.
Schools must get a list of the test materials at least two weeks prior to the exam date so that they can make the necessary preparations and purchases.
Alternative to Practical
In the alternative, the Council may consider assessing candidates’ level of theoretical proficiency with the practical skills outlined in the syllabus in the case that materials for the real practical test cannot be obtained.
There will be two mandatory essay questions on this alternative test, each worth 100 points and needing to be answered in two hours.
Industrial Attachment
The applicants should do this during the extended break between their SS II and SS III course.
Their subject teachers will oversee and grade it. It will receive 10 points.
