How many people get into UCSB?

Since the school takes in about 30,000 first-year students each year, the acceptance rate for the class of 2026 is expected to be around 27%.

In 2022, however, UC Santa Barbara got 128,589 applications from first-year and transfer students.

Compared to how many people were accepted in 2021, the number of applications went up by 1.9%, but the rate of people who were accepted went down by more than 2%.

The acceptance rate at UCSB is 34.6% for international students and 38.7% for students from other states. In the last five years, there has been a rise in the number of non-residents who can get in.

Also, at the University of California, Santa Barbara, the rate of acceptance for transfer students in 2022 is 49%, with a return of 21%. This means that 490 out of every 1000 people who want to go to UCSB are accepted.

How much does it cost to go to the University of California-Santa Barbara?

The University of California-Santa Barbara charges $14,442 for in-state tuition and $44,196 for out-of-state fees. At the University of California—Santa Barbara, in-state tuition costs more than the average of $11,331 across the country.

Out-of-state students pay more than the average out-of-state fees of $27,028 across the country.

But these numbers include the price on the sticker, tuition, and fees. Depending on the university, fees may be charged for using library services, student fitness facilities, student centers, technology tools, and school health centres.

What is the acceptance rate for transfers to UCSB?

There were a total of 17897 applications to move to UCSB. 10137 people were accepted into the school. Because of this, 56.64% of transfer students are accepted at UCSB.

So, if you are a transfer student instead of a first-year student, you have a better chance of getting in. This shows how hard it is to get into the University of California, Santa Barbara.

What are the requirements to get into UCSB?

To be eligible, you have to meet the requirements for getting into UC Santa Barbara. Even if you meet the basic standards, you may still not get in.

Subject Requirement

Students must get a grade of “C” or better in A–G courses that are accepted by the UC. If you go to a high school in California, check that your classes are on the UC Certified Course List for your school.

Grade Point Requirement

All A-G classes need at least a 3.0 GPA. (3.4 for non-California residents). Your early GPA is only based on the A-G grades you get in 10th and 11th grade classes, including summer school.

If you got a grade of C or better, you might be able to use the classes you took in the ninth and twelfth grades to meet A-G subject requirements. But they won’t be taken into account when figuring out your GPA.

SAT Score Requirements

Before you take the SAT and send your scores to UCSB, here are a few things you should know:

Everyone who wants to go to UCSB must send their SAT numbers and take the SAT with Essay.
UCSB does not require you to take SAT topic tests, but some programmes recommend you do so to meet requirements or improve your application as a whole. For example, the College of Engineering suggests that everyone who wants to apply take the Math Level 2 subject test.
Unlike many schools, UCSB does not “super score” the SAT scores you send in. This means that they do not use the highest scores from all sections and all testing dates. You will instead have to choose which test date’s data you want to send in.
To have a good chance of getting into UCSB, what SAT score do you need?

Most people who get into UCSB have SAT scores around 1360.

Specifically;

Math: 620
Reading: 620, Writing: 620, 75%

Math: 770
Reading: 720
Writing: 720
What’s the meaning? Since the average SAT score for UCSB applicants is 1360, a score of less than 13600 puts you below average compared to other candidates. With a score of 1460, you will do better than most of the other entrants.

So, we recommend that you try to get that 75% number and take the SAT as many times as you need to.

ACT Score Requirements

Before sending your ACT scores to UCSB, you should know the following important facts:

You have to take the Writing part of the ACT.
Even though UCSB does not superscore the ACT, they will accept your best overall composite score.
You should try to get at least a 33 if you want to have a good chance of getting into UCSB.
The average ACT score for applicants to UCSB is 29, and the percentile range looks like this:

25% of all people

The English: 24
Math: 25
25 is the 75th percentile.

Literal: 35
Math: 32
Composite: 33
This means that if you get a number of 29 or less, you will rank lower than the average candidate. If your number is 33 or more, you look good. Again, we say that you should take the ACT as many times as you need to get that 33.

What are the rules for transferring to UCSB?

The transfer standards for UCSB include the following:

Minimum GPA: Residents have a minimum college GPA of 2.4, while non-residents must have a minimum of 2.8.

Official Transcripts: All previously attended schools and universities must provide official transcripts. A recent copy of your high school transcript is also needed.

SAT Scores: Standardized test scores are not required.

UCSB asks for a personal statement of 1,000 words that answers two different questions.

Application Fee: There is a non-refundable application fee of $70 ($80 for candidates from outside the United States).

Interview: An interview is not required to be considered for admission.

Other Requirements: Some programmes have extra requirements.

How many points do you need to get into UCSB?

For freshman admission as a California resident, you need an average GPA of 3.0 and 3.4 if you live outside of California or are a foreign student. If you live in California, you need a GPA of 2.4, and if you don’t, you need a GPA of 2.8.

But you should have at least a “C” on your school transcripts, whether you are entering as a freshman or as a transfer student. Try to get as many As and Bs as you can to improve your chances of getting into UC Santa Barbara.

Only the numbers you got in the 10th and 11th grades of high school count towards your first GPA. Your UC GPA will be based on how well you did at the end of the fall term when you applied.

Also, to be a successful applicant, your overall GPA must be at least 4.17. Transfer students do not need that GPA to get into the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Also, like most of the other UCs, the University of California at Santa Barbara does not know who is taking the tests. So, SAT and ACT numbers are not taken into account when deciding who gets in.

You don’t have to send in your ACT or SAT numbers, but you can if you want to. The average SAT score of admitted freshmen is 1460, and the average ACT score of admitted freshmen is 30.
